King launches Tangier-Med II port works

TANGIER, June 16, 2009

King Mohammed VI launched the works to build the Tangier-Med II port, an expansion of the Tangier-
Med port complex and inaugurated the new 393-Mn US dollar rail linking the Tangier-Med port to the
national railway network.

The government and the Tangier Med Special Agency (TMSA), which is in charge of the project,
signed an agreement that sets the two parties' commitments to bring this important development
project to fruition.

To sustain the operation, the government will contribute 3 billion Dirhams to the capital of TM2 SA, a
subsidiary of TMSA, to complete the project. The TMSA will contribute the same amount.

The Tangier Med II will make the Tangier Med port complex the largest port in the Mediterranean and
a leader in the Atlantic Ocean with an overall capacity of more than 8 million containers.

Given its productivity level, the Tangier-Med port complex has become a key  transhipment platform.
In 2008 in which it became operational, it achieved a traffic of more than one million containers
